St. John Discovery Games are self-guided, smartphone-based walking tours designed for couples, families, and small groups visiting St. John. You’ll explore St. John on foot, learn island history, solve clues and complete challenges!

After the captain creates a team, they get a code. Teammates open Join Your Team in the menu, enter the code, and follow along in read-only mode. See the full steps on the How to play page (link from the home page or click Play Now when logged out).
Click the "Register" button and follow the instructions to establish your password and pay for your Scavenger Hunt. Upon completion, a confirmation page will be provided with the starting location.
Your e-mail address and password are printed on your confirmation email, which was originally sent to the e-mail address used during the purchase process. If this is unavailable, return to www.stjdiscoverygames.com. Click the "Log In" button and then click "forgot my password". Your password will be sent to the e-mail address provided.
You can play anytime. There are no set times or dates. No tour guides to meet and no one to check in with at the starting location. You can purchase your scavenger hunt days, weeks or months in advance with by clicking "Play Now" Upon completion of your payment or redemption, you will receive a confirmation with the starting location. When your team is ready, go to the starting location. On your smart phone, return to the website and click on "Join".
While there is no specific limit to the number of players on each team, we recommend no more than 4 to 5 people on each team, and only 5 players can log into the questions during the scavenger hunt. You also have the option to form two groups(of at least two people in each group) and compete against each other if you select "Competition mode" - which makes the scavenger hunt even more exciting.
Yes, you can purchase a Scavenger Hunt as a gift. You can purchase the scavenger hunt and send it to someone else.
There is no set start time for the Scavenger Hunts. You can begin whenever you like. We suggest you allow adequate time to complete the scavenger hunt within daylight hours.
Yes. Exit your Scavenger Hunt by closing your Browser page. To restart your Scavenger Hunt, click on "Play" and enter your e-mail address and password. You will be returned to your last uncompleted question within the Scavenger Hunt. You can then proceed. The time clock cannot be stopped and will continue until the final question is answered.
No, the Scavenger Hunt was designed to be enjoyed by a wide range of ages. When determining whether the Scavenger Hunt would be appropriate for a specific age or person, consider that the walking tour can range between 2 - 3 miles and take 2 - 4 hours depending on your pace of play.
It is a walking tour that can range between 2 - 3 miles with some stairs / moderate hills. There are many stops in between to complete challenges. If members of your party are heat sensitive, you may want to do the scavenger hunt in the early morning to avoid the sun / high temperatures.

Your team's name will be posted on the Leaderboard for the Scavenger Hunt that you played. So you can "win" bragging rights for being at the top of the Leaderboard. The Leaderboard for each scavenger hunt is found on the locations page.
Any smart phone, iPad or other mobile device with access to the internet through cellular connectivity will work. Devices that only access the internet through WiFi hotspots will not work. Having two internet capable devices - one for the game and one to look up other information, can often be helpful, but is not necessary.
No. Using the back button on your phone can cause a system error and creates a scoring problem. Should an error occur, close the window running your Quest then open a new browser window. Return to www.stjohndiscovery.com.Click "Play" and you will be taken back to the game at the same place you exited.
